Quick heat ups

I know some of the diesels have a QWS but I wonder if it wastes fuel?
My Jeep Cherokee didnt have such a system but I found a very cheap way of emulating it and it is more enviromentally friendly than running your engine until it warms.

Simple method:-

Get in car and start engine, rev gently for 20 seconds. Switch off, get out and go back inside for 5 mins. Return to car and the car is now pretty near warmed up! Makes demisting the front window pretty quick too once you restart the car.

Living in Yorkshire I've picked up a few Yorkshire habits, one of them is being a tightwad not wanting to waste money on fuel unneccesarily :D Try it, the worst that will happen is you wasted 5 mins inside rather than in the cold :)
