cold draft from side vents (A)

Postby alex on Thu Jan 03, 2008 5:01 pm

Quickie,
Coming down the M6 today was getting chilly in my A swb, despite nice toastie warm air from the vent

It would be foolish to remove seatbelt and mess around the cab whislt on motorway, so my invisible friend explored the area for me

I have a lot of cold air coming in from the 2 outer vents whilst closed (does open/close but not seal) I also have what feels like cold air coming into the passenger footwell.

I guess the outer vents need a fiddle to get them to seal, do they pop out? or do I need to fetch the dahs apart.

Second, if memmory serves me the whole blower set up is under the dash, is it likely the feed pipe has fallen off?

Thanks
Alex

outer vents on "up" setting (or is it down) will take air straight from the airflow over the scuttle panel. on the other setting it takes it via the heater / blower circuit.

cold feet could be leaky plastic tunneling - it isn't very clever I'm afraid :?

The slider does switch from gale to draught, so it is atempting to stem the cold, just not sealing it. Looks like its going to have to come apart.

Tunnel does leak a lil water when immersed so it may well allow a bi of wind in.

ah ok - probably the wee springy catch item is tired. You can re-bend them a little to perk up the action a bit.

Now if that doesn't sound pervy.... :D

Yes does, maybe a ground viagra dropped in the heater would stiffen it up....
