ServicingOk going to get my Fronty serviced this month, Have been quoted 170 quid for a full service is this a good price??? What should I look for that they should be checking
From your picture it looks like you have a 2.0 Petrol. A full service should include a check of the brake pads front and rear (Drum brakes if its pre 1995 with leaf sprung rear end). Spark plug and HT lead check, New air and oil filters. New fuel filter, check of coolant and brake fluids and clutch fluid. Brake and clutch fluid only lasts about 2 years (as it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and this reduces its efficiency) but I do mine once a year usually just before winter sets in. Generally a check of anything that can leak or wear out. If you are mechanically minded and all the above things need doing then you can probably do it yourself for about the hundred quid mark and will probably take an hour or two if its your first time. But if you dont feel confident then 170 is not a bad price. Parts are mostly readily available from local motor factors or can usually be ordered in pretty quick. Halfords is also a reasonable place for service items but I personally try to avoid Halfords own brand bits and pieces.
Im sure if I have missed anything then someone else will fill in the gaps.
I tend to go down the route of having the garage do a "full" service for me when I buy the car, then after that, I do it myself...
Strange way to go possibly, but then I know I'm starting from a state where everything is tip-top, and know what needs doing, and when, and can keep an eye on any troubles developing... Jim...

Forgot to mention to have the gearbox and transfer box oil checked as well as differential oil front and rear. Gearbox and transfer box takes 10w/40 mineral engine oil. Diff's take 75w/80 differential oil.
Well she goes in tommorow for her full service
The garage is part of the good garage scheme so I feel kind of good, Have allocated an extra 100 quid in case they tell me something needs doing. Will let you all know how it goes
Well took her out this morning to run her up before taking her for a service. I had a feeling she knew what was going on Because as I drove her she was pullin got the left and very sluggish. Got to the garage, guy has a look and tells me my front left brake has seized on her
Good job she is getting new pads
Well here goes serviced today and
Front calipers seized both sides Rear drums leaking both sides My 180 quid is going to be closer to 400 quid now
Well at least the wife kept her head when I told her and its not putting me off at all.
Guy asked me if my fronty was sluggish I said Yes. He said thats because I have been driving with my brakes half on
