Heater

Postby Tiddles on Mon Dec 17, 2007 6:50 pm

I think this may be a common fault.

My heater no longer blowes hot air :!:

I think it used too but cant remember :?

There is no water leaking and when I swich fron hot and cold there is no change in the air tempriture or air flow

Any ideas :?:

first, check there is water in your cooling system.

if there is, then try swapping the hoses round. this usually works on a fronty.

assuming you have right coolant in and its not overheating reverse the pipes to the heater may be blocked matrix on heater reversing them allows and gunge in heater to flow back to coolant system

When you move the temperature (hot - cold) slider across does it have any resistance on it?

I think it's quite possible that the little wire bit (or lever, can't remember which) has come off either the back of the lever or off the top of the thing which stops or starts the water flowing through the matrix (it's a little valve thing)

If you have had the head gasket done that means that the coolant will have been drained down and refilled, so you may have an air lock.

That would be one thing to try before attacking pipes and leavers.

How do I clear the air lock?

I am driving to and from work with the heater on hot and have opend the exspanshon bottel onence when the engine was warm.

actually, the frontera heater, when in fine working condition, is more than capable of melting the fibres in a cheap pair of Tesco's own nylon trousers.

im not sure of the scientific term for this, but i have an idea i could be the called the slacks scale or saomething...
