All good points above, and a Gvt with a real approach would be a refreshing change so maybe we should get the woodpacker party in.

If carlsberg did politicians.........

well i would like to point out that railways would just not work these days, over the years they have got rid of many lines just leaving the main routes them you have the problem of getting loads from the stations to the shops, esp when these days shoppers expect fresh foods on the shelfs of supermarkets 24 hrs a day, the avaerage supermarket gets 30 trucks a day pulling in just to keep the shop stocked enough x 5 major chains it would be impossible therefore it has to be left to trucks, and i think many dont realist that artics pay enough tax on average £4000 per year for a 40 ton truck compared to 180 for most cars, if all cars paid 4 grand tax then some points about fuel would be justified!!!!

Good points but it confuses me, :?:

With the big companies held to ransom by "shareholders" then less money can be spent on the services they provide and the biggest thing that I can't work out..

How many motors are there on the roads :?: We pay tax on each one( to fund road building and repairs ), around 10% of council tax is for the same and also allegedly some of the fuel tax is for the same.
That seems to be a hell of a lot of cash to me.Where is it :?:

Well it is not spent on the roads around Hereford
unless you count the silly new road they are building at the moment that is going over the top of a ROTHERWAS RIBBON - which is a mysterious 4000 year old group of stones .
Or they may spend some money on throwing a bit of stone in the holes along the lanes where i work its normally a weekly thing and takes them aday or two then by the next week it needs to be done again

i think some one is getting a nice bounus each year!!! well to start there are prob a million trucks throughout the uk @ £4,000 each so that's a nice start then all the car's @ £180 each then 70% of fuel sold, now i wouldn't even like to guess what that comes to!!!!!! :? :?
we should have the best roads in the planet

Well, Thousands were promised ......

Huge public support was promised .....

Total disrpution on one of the busiest days of the year was promised .....

Hundreds of police drafted in and put on standby .....

and as USUAL it's all fell flat on its face.

No more than 12-15 protesters at each oil refinery.

Typical of this country.................. :? :? :?

TALK ABOUT IT, CHANT ABOUT IT,
RANT ABOUT IT................

AND DO ABSOLUTLY BUGGER ALL ABOUT IT.

Why should BROWNS DICK TURPIN BRIGADE do anything about it when the people who it affects can't be bothered.

I left Stoke at 7.30am this morning heading to Stanlow in Cheshire. At 8am on the radio news, it was broadcast that it was cancelled.

Oh well, a bit more PETROL WASTED....

Maybe in the New Year something may happen.... If anyone can be bothered. :x :x :x

:soap box: :soap box: :soap box:

I'm getting off me box now and going to have a caffine fix.

Is there not the worry that the ignorant public will take one look at our 4x4s and tell us to get a more econimical car

Missing the point that my 2.4i giving 25mpg is more econimical than most sports cars and your average BMW or Mrc :?

Is always a hot potato this one.Get told and pointed at all the time about " Gas Guzzler ",get a "puddle jumper.Fine unless the next time the coast road floods and your dinky toy gets stuck in the middle and you need pulling out!!

It's the "Chelsea Tractor " that give 4x4 bad press.
Maybe instead of the big things most government people drive round in they should get eco cars.

Going off topic so will shut up.
