i have as slight diesel leak under neath the fronty at the rear, i cant see where its starting as its a big damp oily area so hard to trace the leak point, how can i trace it, can i clean the diesel off with something that will dry up so i can see the leak?
also can i repair it with a short bit of pipe either plastic or metal? its needing an mot so needs to be suitable to pass this.

Ive replaced the rear sections of the 3 fuel lines on mine with rated diesel hose. Rather than trying to find the leak, just chop out the section where you suspect it to be and replace with proper fuel hose.
using a flairing kit to flair the ends of the remailing pip and good clips will see you right.

you dont really need a flare kit, we didnt use one when we did our pipes but it might be wise to use one.
we used 2 jubille clips at each connection onto metal pipe so it wouldnt leak aswell, but again fuel pipe clips are more advised for use because they were made for one purpose.
after we chopped the old bits out we had a look at them at they were really bad, i mean they were on the verge of not being pipes but more rusty bits of metal that just hung there lol.
another pointer that u might not know is that there is 2 different sizes of pipes but i cant remember what size they were.

its good to know it can be done without the flare tool, i will get underneath tomorrow and measure what length of hose i need and what dia the fuel pipes are and buy some fuel hose and fuel clips.
thanks for the advise.

right i had a look at some of the past posts and its 2 lengths of 8mm pipe and 1 6mm pipe, also dont do this job unless there is alot less than half a tank in it or it will spew all over the place lol.

cheers, yeah i was thinking if i should drain the tank first or can it be done with minimum spillage, my fuel level is rather low i hit the yellow light this morning and then i put 1 gallon in.
i take it you get 8mm and 6mm diesel hose? How did you retain the hose did you use tie wraps?

Tie wraps and thoughtful routing.
partco will sell flaring tools too. cheap ones for about 15 - 20 quid will do, but are a bugger to use. Expensive ones are great, but not worth the cash if you are just doing the odd job.
I got a tool from Machine mart for around 20 quid. its not the best, but it works for brake lines and fuel pipe

you will need to reprime back to the fuel filter.
undo the bleed screw / bolt on the 'fuel out' pipe on the filter assembly, then pump that little grey plunger till you get a satisfying squirt!
is it me or does that sound like something you should do in private.....

been under the beast, the pipes are as stated 2 x 8mm and 1 x 6mm, so im going out for hose and clips.
funny thing was it seems obvious which pipe it is thats leaking as 1 8mm pipe is badlly corroded most of the way and the other 2 look ok, funny how 1 is so bad , going to do the 3 pipes anyhow.
