Frontera B, petrol, 4x4 vacuum system

Postby SIMON MCCORKINDALE on Mon Dec 03, 2007 5:35 pm

Does anyone have the part number for the double solenoid valve assembly located at the right rear of the engine bay, on the bulkhead.

They switch the vacuum during 4x4 selection from the switch on the dash.

Frontera B 2.2i 16v RS 1999

Cheers

The bottom diagram is of the 2 to 4x4 shift motor, its underneath,on back of transfer box. it turned out to be faulty on mine. The vsv valves, if you connect up as in the diagram, and check by blowing down the tubes, to see if its switching over correctly, but id put money on the transfer motor assembly, they dont take to kindly to getting soaked and then not been used for long periods of time... Mine tested ok in my hand but wouldnt work in situ. so check it while fitted to the fronty too. Bet tthe valves are ok, let me know if you need anymore help. Know the 4x4 system like back of my hand now, after my problems.

Thanks for the info!
The problem I was getting was the 4x4 light on the dash board was flashing when I started the engine, but i had not tried to switch to 4x4.
I decided to strip the solenoids down and found that the shuttle in the grey valve was sticking in the up position (under spring tension).
I polished the shuttle with some fine polishing paper and it seems to be working now.

Thanks again
