After the shock I had to day : FOG CLICKY regarding getting me other truck on the road I need some inspiration from you guys.

I've got 4 Options :

1. Be a total SPANNER, and spend lots of money and get it on the road.

2. Break it up for Spares.

3. Get all jobs done, put 12 months MOT on it and sell it straight on.

4. Keep it, completly remove the luxury interior ( ) right down to the shell, remove rear roof section, convert into a pick up, Mod it to S*it with lift, snorkle, tyres etc, buy a flat bed trailer, and just use it for offroading pay and play days only.

Defo keep it and do the mods at your own pace. Think of the money saved on fuel with the gas con on it.

Maybe turn it into a good road car and use the one youve already modded solely off road.

Sounds good advice, but the truck has 135,000 miles on the clock now. I intended to use it for my job, which would mean it would clock up another 850-1000 miles PER WEEK.

So basically, I don't think it would be economical sence in the end to spend over £1000 just on the fact it has LPG. Even after 6 months running it would have clocked up around the 160,000 mile mark. How many fronties do you know have done that many miles?

The probability of major mechnical problems are quite high, so what i would save in 12 months running lpg, would certainly be swallowed up on repair cost.

Turning it in to an off roader seems the logical option at the moment, and If needed and I got bored with it, I could sell it on ebay just as an offroader and recoup the money I would have spent.

Breaking it up is another good option, but the car is to good for that.

I'll have a think over the next few days.

well i have said get it on the road, afterall thats what you got her for, and it would be nice to drive to a playground and then drive home,
but thats just my opinion, i have just spent the last 12 months puting my calibra back together, and the things that i have done its going to cost a fair bit to insure, but it will be worth it in the end,

Have now decided to turn the other truck into a serious off roader so ........

PROJECT FUDDY MUCKER "II" will be starting soon.

I'm going to start a post on the forum and do a weekly "BLOG" of progress with piccys and how to's. From Start to the first day I go off roading in her.

No expense will be spared and hopefully all changes and modifications will be done to a high spec. I might be calling on a few of our talented and skilled members for advice and help.

I'm hoping for a budget of no more than £500, which includes all componants, metel work, suspension and accessories.

I'm aiming for April to go the first off road Pay & Play Day.

So it looks like another "FUDDY" organised day out looming next year.

Best of Luck mate, hope it all works out.

The initial modifications are as follows :

1. Tyre & Wheels - Already got off the other truck = £ 0.00
2. New Leaf Springs - Milner off road = £ 111.00
3. Rancho competion Extended rear Shockers - Specialsit leisure = £ 117.00
4. Calmini 2" lift kit - Specialist leisure = £62.00
5. Roof Lights - Home made set up, including all parts = £ 40.00
6. Snorkel - Again, Home made Set up, including all parts = £ 30.00
7. Boxing in rear to make a pick up - Aluminium sheeting and box section = £ 40.00
8. Modifying existing sport rear roll frame to be fitted the opposite way round in the rear pick up area = £ 20.00
9. chequer board aluminium plating to cover rear floor area, rear side areas, front floor area, rear door and inside front doors = £ 60.00

Comes in at £ 480.00 ish, give or take either way.

Other mentioned items :

Bucket Seat - Not got the figure to be going and fitting bucket seat, I WON'T FIT IN.

Winch - Want one, but not essential to start off. possible anniversary or birthday present of MRS MUCKER
(:grumpy:)

Body lift - A bit extreme for what you achieve. With new springs and lift kit you gain 4" in height. So not on me want list.

Roll cage - Eventually, as I have a mate who builds as races hot rods so he will fabricate one up for me for the cost of the materials.

Opps, hope you had'nt noticed that.

Would'nt dismiss it, but would require some serious help from guys who had done the job before.

So you never know what will happen in the future.

My main aim is to get the ball rolling and get to my first off road day and GET MUDDY..

The live axle conversion has its plus sides but does require a major reworking of the front end, and is not for the amature.

i shall be watching the build thread with interest.
