What is Green Laning?
 (submitted by Nik)

To me it is an enjoyable day out, driving under-used tracks and roads in the countryside.

There are several items to take in to account before venturing out onto the lanes.

Firstly,what can I drive on ?
BOAT - Byway Open to All Traffic.
RuPP - Road used as a Public Path.

These are usually marked up as BYWAY, You CANNOT drive footpaths or Bridleways. They can be found on Ordinance Survey Landranger and Explorer maps.

Secondly, the weather
This affects the lanes, wind, rain, snow..etc

Thirdly, Track conditions
Affected by the weather, rutted, overgrown.

Fourthly,  other users
Walkers, bikes (pedal/motor), horse riders, children and other laners.

Fifthly, getting stuck
Happens to us all.

Most of the answers are found in the Green Lane Code of Conduct.
